We have led the effort to permanently protect countless acres of Virginia's wilderness and cities.

Our Mission

Keep Virginia Cozy’s mission is to protect wilderness and inspire all Virginians to care for our wild places. We contribute to better protection, stewardship and restoration of our public lands, preserving our rich natural legacy for current and future generations.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.
— Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

  • Since our inception, we have removed upwards of 45,000 pounds of litter and recycling from Virginia's waterways, park systems, mountain trails, and neighborhoods. And that number continues to grow.

  • We have formed partnerships with several local businesses who want to actively give back to the community we all live, work, and play in. See our ‘partners’ page for more details and learn how you too can join our family!

  • We've brought together wonderful and caring people from all over Virginia, who want to play a part in keeping our great state beautiful for all. And our family continues to grow!

  • We work with agencies in Shenandoah National Park, The George Washington National Forest, and Jefferson National Forest to maintain trail sections and perform beautification projects.

  • In local and state parks, we harvest and process fallen trees to provide campers with firewood, and repel off waterfalls to remove invasive plant species.

  • We also offer a wide array of outdoor etiquette and environmental education classes, such as "Leave No Trace" and "How to Behave in the Outdoors". Classes help teach that our actions carry consequences, and how we can ensure we don’t create negative consequences in the outdoors.

We are a proud nonprofit partner with 1% for the Planet
